Key Terms Explained
- EPF (Employees Provident Fund): A retirement savings scheme. Employee and employer each contribute 10% of basic salary. Your contribution is deductible from taxable income.

Through the Finance Ordinance, 2083, the differential tax slab treatment for single individuals and couples has been removed, and a uniform income tax slab now applies to all resident individuals: 1% up to NPR 10 lakh, 10% on the next NPR 5 lakh, 20% on the next NPR 10 lakh, 27% on the next NPR 15 lakh, and 29% on income above NPR 40 lakh.
For single individuals: 1% up to NPR 5 lakh, 10% from 5-7 lakh, 20% from 7-10 lakh, 30% from 10-20 lakh, 36% from 20-50 lakh, and 39% for above 50 Lakhs. For couples : 1% up to NPR 6 lakh, 10% from 6-8 lakh, 20% from 8-11 lakh, 30% from 11-20 lakh, 36% from 20-50 lakh, and 39% for above 50 Lakhs., the threshold is NPR 1 lakh higher at each slab.
